LORO-X Rain Standpipes
They can really take it!
State-of-the-art façade architecture includes LORO−X rain standpipes and rain downpipes as construction elements. LORO−X rain standpipes and rain downpipes made of impact-resistant steel provide reliable protection against all kinds of vandalism or accidents.
LORO-X downpipes are available in different designs and materials. There is something for every application here.
The extensive range of fittings, including bends, branches, transitions, adjustment pieces and special parts for special areas, solve practically any installation requirement. To avoid icing in the downpipes, electrical heating systems can be used.
Areas of application
Residential buildings, inside and outside of industrial buildings, on public buildings and in multi-storey car parks - wherever rain pipes in the traffic area have to be protected against mechanical damage.
LORO-X Rain standpipes
to protect against vandalism and damage from people, objects and vehicles
LORO-X Rain standpipes made of steel offer optimal protection against vandalism and damage from people, objects and vehicles of all kinds. Damaged rainwater pipes impair the function of the roof drainage and lead to undesirable moisture in the masonry and facades in the long term.
In accordance with DIN EN 12056-3 7.5, there are downpipes at the end and at changes of direction Cleaninig Openings to be provided.
With the appropriate connectors, LORO-X rain standpipes can be connected to all common underground pipes.
Standards require rain standpipes
Downpipes on residential buildings, inside and outside of industrial buildings, on public buildings and in parking garages in the area of sidewalks and driveways are exposed to mechanical damage up to 3 m in height.
Damaged downpipes, on the other hand, impair the drainage function of the roof drainage and, in the long run, lead to unwanted moisture penetration of masonry and facades.
DIN 1986-100: 2008 (Section 6.1.4) requires: "For downpipes, pipes (standpipes) made of a suitable material are to be used in areas in which mechanical damage is to be expected."

With cleaning opening
According to DIN EN 12056-3 7.5 for cleaning openings
LORO-X rain standpipes and rain downpipes are used as protection against mechanical damage to residential buildings, inside and outside of industrial buildings, public buildings, parking garages and in the area of pedestrian and traffic routes. Especially with all external downpipes from roof surfaces, roof terraces, canopies oder balconies.
The removable cleaning cover of the cleaning opening enables access to the downpipe upwards and the bottom pipe downwards.
DIN 1986-100: 2016-12 (Section 6.1.4) also requires: "For downpipes, pipes (standpipes) made of a suitable material are to be used in areas where mechanical damage is to be expected."
With spout bend
for downpipes with discharge to the outside
LORO-X standpipes with a welded-on spout bend outlet bend are suitable for downpipes without a ground pipe connection with an outlet to the outside (downspout). A later "falling off" of the outlet arc due to the flow shooting from above is excluded. Any holding structures for the separate arch are not required.
Emergency drainage into the open air is a regular application. But also - as is common in Scandinavian countries - when the main drainage is outdoors, e.g. because there is no underground pipe.
Smaller nominal widths from DN 50 are ideally suited for the drainage of canopies, balconies, shelters and small areas. Larger nominal sizes up to DN 150 are particularly suitable for large areas and the "Scandinavian construction".
According to DIN EN 12056-3 7.5, no additional cleaning opening is required for free drainage on free surfaces.
With HSÜ
Backflow prevention with high-performance safety overflow (HSÜ)
The new LORO-X rain standpipe with high-performance safety overflow (HSÜ) can be planned for every external downpipe in the new building or used for the renovation and retrofitting of existing downpipes.
The high drainage capacity of up to 9 l / s exceeds the planned drainage capacity of conventional DN 100 downpipes with gravity flow (4.5 l / s). It should be noted that “in front of” the HSÜ there is a sufficiently large “damage-free, freely floodable area”.
How it works: Normally, the water is routed past the HSÜ into the underground pipe. The inclined and pipe-like drainage openings (see detailed drawing, page 20), for which a patent has been applied for, normally prevents leakage. In the event of a backflow from the underground pipe, a standing water column builds up in the LORO-X rain standpipe, which builds up overpressure on the HSÜ and can therefore "push" large amounts of water through the HSÜ (see data sheet LX1390).
No emergency drainage function: The high-performance safety overflow on the downpipe of the main drainage offers reliable protection against backflow from the underground pipe, but does not replace emergency drainage, as there is no function in the event of blockages on the main drainage!
